- Is RumorMill 1.3 Carbonized? (Mac OS X native)
A beta version of RumorMill (1.3.5b2) was release in mid-January. While
this version has some limitations (see the release notes), it is fully
functional.
There will be no upgrade charge for the OS X version to registered users of version 1.3.
- Is it possible to rebuild the database in
version 1.3?
Yes. The various databases can be rebuilt from the articles
files. Anyone needing to do this should read the documentation titled "Rebuilding or recreating your databases." If you have still have problems, please contact Swaystairs Support for
information about how to perform this task.
- Is RumorMill still a Stairways Software
product?
No. RumorMill is now a product of Swaystairs Software. The
author of RumorMill still maintains contacts with the Stairways
staff, but Stairways is now primarily focused on their excellent
product, Interarchy.
- So how is the Mac OS X version coming along?
Fairly well since the addition of a machine which is capable of running OS X. At this point (27 Oct 02) RumorMill has reached an alpha stage. RumorMill appears to function properly under OS X, however, more testing is required. In addition, there are still a few issues to work out regarding root privileges etc. (required to open the NNTP port).
- How does a moderator post an article to a moderated group?
The moderator must add an "Approved <moderator's EMail address> header to each article she or he posts into a moderated group.
